License To Call Print

Hi,

The idea of becoming a licensed amateur radio was not new to me, 25 years ago I bought all the books that would allow me to obtain my class C or D license, I read them but was so disappointed with all those tables and mathematical formulas to learn that I put them back in my library. So I used to practice 11m band for years and enjoyed it, even during those days where the propagation is so bad that you can only speak with neighbor countries (where are the days with this magical propagation, speaking with England, Luxembourg in FM with a 5/9 signal, or with USA, Canada, Comoros or even Australia with your vertical antenna and 100 watts in SSB).

At the beginning of 2009, back from a 4 months holiday travel around the world I had much free time than ever and decided to go see my local amateur radio club, F5CDZ Jean Marc was giving courses and tought me all the stuff needed and I got my Class 3 license (144-146 MHZ) on 2009, April 17 (I got my first course on 2009, February 17).

At the same time Jean Marc tought me things about electronics, mainly about resistance and transformers and I had to learn all the other things by myself using an old book bought on PriceMinister and named "Préparation à la licence radioamateur" by F9HJ and a software called ExamF4 (the old, text version with its 70 virtual exams). I learned from April 2009 to June 6, 2009 and I got my class 2 license on June 8, 2009.

I am now a licensed amateur radio (HF/VHF/UHF) waiting for my official call sign.

My new challenge is to learn Morse Code which I love but seems also much more challenging, I am using a software written by G4FON which allows you to learn using the Koch method (I learn at 25WPM).

Thanks to F5CDZ, F5PVH and all the other members of my club (F5KRH) for their help.

Thanks to F5AXG/F6GPX for their softwares and guides (Guide F0, ExamF0F4 software and ExamF4 software).
